Nazi Officer's WWII Scrapbook
These pages from a Nazi officer’s scrapbook, entitled “Krieg” (German for “War”), depict a gruesome enthusiasm for cruelty. The scrapbook begins as the war began and Nazis entered Poland. The officer includes meticulous drawings and cut-out images depicting Jewish people as insects/ticks and pigs, etc.
The soldier who made this was a member of the army signal corps (Nachrichtentruppe des Heeres), as indicated by the yellow flag. The "3.N.7" on the cover notes that he was in 3rd company of the Nachrichten Regiment.
Until early 1942, this particular branch was also in charge of army propaganda, which might explain why this scrapbook is so much heavier on Nazi ideology than the average German soldier's album.
Regardless, the scrapbook provides a disgusting look at the attitude of German soldiers going off to Poland. Many of these people were likely murdered after the photos were taken.
